Another great high-resolution TEM image, this time of a metallic nanoparticle.

The particle has a cementite structure (Fe3C). Further chemical analysis using EELS revealed that this particle actually has some Cr atoms. These must have swapped with the Fe atoms while still maintaining the cementite structure. It is surrounded by graphitic carbon, which grows from the metal particle in all directions.
